The Nara clan has the ability to manipulate shadows, either to help,
stop, control or injure another person or creature. The Nara clan can
stretch shadows, make beings out of shadows, strangle with shadows, and
even control movement with shadows. Because the Nara abilities are based
on the control of a single object (Shadows), it is chakra and
brilliance that matters most within this clan. Chakra, to keep the Jutsu
going. Brilliance, to learn new abilities and how to further manipulate
shadows. This is a canon clan.


History/Background

History of Clan: The Nara clan has been around Konoha since it's founding, and have lived there as Shinobi and deer tenders for generations. Their deer graze in a large area of forest known as Nara territory. The founding of the clan is unknown, but they have kept a book with medicine preparations and effects for generations
which imply they are skilled in the area of medicine. Among the medicine
described in this book are the secret pills used by the Akimichi clan.

The Nara clan often work together with the Yamanaka and Akimichi clans, and seem to have special relationships with these clans. For some generations, members of these three families have
formed an "Ino-Shika-Cho trio", named after the first part of the names
of the members. The Nara members are the "Shika" in the trio. "Ino",
"Shika" and "Cho" are the names of three cards needed for a highly
prized trick of "Inoshikacho" in the Hanafud.

Currently, the Nara clan still resides in Konohagakure no Sato (Konoha, Hidden Leaf Village). They are a minor clan of only around sixty members, and are often overlooked in favor of more powerful clans such as Hyuga and Uchiha. They are a close-knit family type clan, but they are not so private like the Hyuga and Aburame.

They normally send their genin out to join squads, unlike the Hyuga, and they do a lot of scientific research for Konoha.
